I’m not sure how to feel about Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk. Most times he seems like a relatively reasonable dude, and sometimes some of his business decisions have me questioning how much people can trust this guy. But, if he follows through with what he’s been hinting at and what, literally, millions of people are asking for, he’ll gain some serious points with yours truly — if that even matters.

When asked on Saturday whether he was considering “building a new social media platform,” Musk responded that he is “giving serious thought to this.”

As MRCTV's Brittany Hughes reported last Friday, Musk began a Twitter poll asking his 79.4 million followers whether “Twitter rigorously adheres” to the “principle” that “free speech is essential to a functioning democracy.”

“The consequences of this poll will be important,” Musk said in a subsequent tweet. “Please vote carefully.”

With over 2,000,0000 votes, 70.4 percent of respondents said that Twitter does NOT work to protect free speech.

While there are alternates to the Big Tech platforms — outlets like Rumble, Gab, Minds and others — and they’ve done decently well for themselves, no one has really been able to clearly break the stranglehold that platforms like Facebook and Twitter have over the populace.

Someone with the financial means to really start out strong with a new social media platform, like Musk, could give himself a very good place among the competition.

It’ll be interesting, not only to see if Musk follows through on his “serious thought,” but what those thoughts will manifest into should they come to fruition.
