Rep. Shelia Jackson Lee (D-TX) finds her gaseous fact-free claims about the moon to be no laughing matter. So she recently took her gripe to the House floor.

As Brittany Hughes of MRCTV reported:

During an event in Houston just before the eclipse Monday morning, Texas Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas) told the audience that the moon was made up “mostly of gasses” (it isn’t) and that it's "almost impossible to go near the sun" (we actually can't go near it at all) because it's a "mighty powerful heat" (you don't say!?).

The video of Jackson Lee making her comments went viral on social media much to her displeasure. “Yet, my Republican friends want to make light of some interpretation that I gave to one of the elements of this eclipse,” she told the House on Tuesday.

Jackson Lee never admitted she was incorrect in many of her statements (or interpretations), instead focusing on her enthusiasm for spreading her ignorant moon gas message to kids. “What an enthusiastic message we were giving them that they too can stand for science and the solar system,” Jackson Lee bellowed.

Because nothing helps kids realize that they can “stand for science and the solar system” better than incorrectly informing them that Earth’s moon is made up mostly of gasses and giving them the obvious detail that the sun is hot.
