The past weekend brought about at least two instances of defensive gun use that the leftist media prefers to bury.
A burglary suspect was shot in Louisiana when a homeowner reported that two masked individuals were breaking into vehicles and stealing a parked car nearby.
KSLA reports, Shreveport police responded to the shooting on Saturday. A resident called 911 after reportedly seeing two masked people breaking into cars.
While on the phone, one of the alleged burglars approached the homeowner. The caller told the man to stop, but the suspect allegedly kept approaching him.
“Fearing for his and his family’s safety, the caller discharged his firearm twice, striking 18-year-old Jamelvion Lewis in the upper body,” police Cpl. Chris Bordelon said. The teenager was shot in his lower abdomen and right arm, authorities said.
Lewis is expected to make a full recovery.
The other suspect left in a stolen vehicle, but quickly abandoned it. Police are still searching for him.
Lewis has been charged with one count of possession of a stolen firearm because officers discovered that he was armed with a gun stolen from another city. Additional charges are expected.
No charges are pending against the homeowner.

On Sunday, an Indiana homeowner allegedly shot and killed a would-be burglar in Martinsville.
Authorities say the homeowner has been cooperative with investigators in the shooting.
The identities of both individuals and many details are being withheld at this time.
Fox59 reports that officials believe the shooting does not pose any ongoing threat to the neighborhood.
It may, however, pose a threat to ongoing criminal activity.
