Jets head coach Robert Saleh sparked controversy by wearing a Lebanese flag patch during his loss against the Vikings in London on Sunday. Now the Jets have let him go.
The Jets firing Saleh Tuesday is related to the teams’ current 2-3 record, not the Lebanese flag he wore on the sleeve of his team hoodie Sunday. Saleh is reportedly Lebanese-American.
Jets chairman Woody Johnson discussed the dismissal in a statement.
"This was not an easy decision, but we are not where we should be given our expectations, and I believe now is the best time for us to move in a different direction," the statement read.
Saleh sparked controversy this weekend not only with a Jets’ loss but by adding the Lebanese flag to the hoodie, which caught attention on social media. You can check out some the comments below.

Israel bombed targets in Lebanon and the Gaza Strip on Sunday ahead of the one-year anniversary of the Oct. 7 attacks. The air strikes on Beirut Sunday were the most intense bombardment of the Lebanese capital since Israel escalated its campaign against Hezbollah last month.
