During a livestream Democrat town hall event Tuesday evening, Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) was asked about the party’s response to GOP plans was. His answer: he “hopes” for a plan, recognizing Dems “need to put together our own counter plan.”
“It's not enough simply to attack the Republican plans. It is important that Democrats rally together behind a positive agenda. I will say, at this particular moment, for example, when it comes to the Republican tax plan, we need for everybody to understand what their plan is, for starters - which is a big (inaudible) rich at the expense of everybody else, including Medicaid. However, I have also argued, and I hope we will do, that. We need to put together our own counter plan to show where we stand in terms of providing and we are working on this plan,” Van Hollen said.

“It's always going to be a challenge to get, you know, all the Democrats in the room to agree.”
Later at the event in Maryland, Van Hollen added, “So I agree with you. It's going to be important to have alternatives, but we also need to spend the time necessary to show how bad their plan is- and then we need to provide a clear alternative.”
So basically, let’s just reject the GOP plan outright and maybe, just maybe, we can come up with something later, if we can get party members to agree.
What a way for a party to operate. The Democrat party are truly leaderless at this point.
