Calls for a Burger King boycott are echoing across social media after the fast-food giant yanked its ads from video platform Rumble shortly after the sexual assault allegations against Russell Brand were raised.

"Burger King has paused all advertising on the channel while investigations into the allegations are ongoing," Burger King told the News Movement.

Reaction on social media was swift.

The sexual assault allegations are a decade old or older and Brand has not been convicted on any charges. Brand has publicly denied the allegations.

As MRCTV’s Nick Kangadis reported earlier:

"The (UK) Chair of the Culture, Media and Sport Committee, Dame Caroline Dinenage, sent the letter used veiled mafia tactics of passive aggressiveness wanting Rumble to suspend “Mr Brand’s ability to earn money on the platform.”

Rumble replied to the UK chair’s request:

While Rumble obviously deplores sexual assault, rape, and all serious crimes, and believes that both alleged victims and the accused are entitled to a full and serious investigation, it is vital to note that recent allegations against Russell Brand have nothing to do with content on Rumble's platform.

Just yesterday, YouTube announced that, based solely on these media accusations, it was barring Mr. Brand from monetizing his video content. Rumble stands for very different values. We have devoted ourselves to the vital cause of defending a free internet - meaning an internet where no one arbitrarily dictates which ideas can or cannot be heard, or which citizens may or may not be entitled to a platform.

ASOS, London’s Barbican centre and Hello Fresh have also pulled advertising from Russell Brand’s Rumble channel, according to The News Movement.
