NY Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) is pushing to restrict the wearing of masks in public, but on Monday some in the media masked up and pushed back – even attempting to connect the move to President Donald Trump.

After mentioning her “plan to try to get through a mask intimidation offense where people that are using masks to intimidate others is not allowed” Hochul faced a question from a masked member of the media.

“Governor, I'm just wondering right now, do I intend to harass you?”

“We also have exceptions for medical reasons,” Hochul replied.

“Do I intend to harass you?”

 “Yes,” she said.

The back and forth on how a law enforcement officer would discern the intent of someone wearing a mask followed. Then another reporter attempted to connect her mask ban efforts to Donald Trump.

“So does it have any relation to your conversation with the president?”

“Oh no, that didn't come up. No, I didn't talk about masks with him,” Hochul replied.
