The House Democratic Steering and Policy Committee held a meeting in Florida Tuesday, to hyperventilate about states having the right to govern themselves and make their own laws regarding abortion, rather than be forced to follow a federal diktat.
Among the leftists gathered to lament states’ rights was Rep. Kathy Castor (D-FL) who argued that medical students would avoid training and remaining in red states if they couldn’t witness or perform abortions. Claiming they would seek states offering the “full range” of medical training.
Dr. Ian Joseph Bishop agreed, “It means options will be limited, if not existent for many women.”
Bishop continued, “We are looking at abortion deserts where people, if they have the means necessary to travel, will have to go elsewhere.”
It seems when it comes to abortion, “quick, convenient and cheap” has replaced the Democratic Party’s old abortion mantra of “safe, legal, and rare.”
