Since it’s been a little over a month since companies banded together to bravely condemn racism in the wake of Charlottesville, chains across the country have been desperate for a new cause to virtue signal about. Sprinkles Cupcakes has decided the new mantle to carry is the “Take a Knee” NFL protests.
In a tweet and an Instagram post, Sprinkles Cupcakes showed a display of their cupcakes spelling out “#Takeaknee”:

As anticipated for a cupcake chain trying to lecture people about hot-button political issues, most of the responses to Sprinkles’ move were largely negative:
@sprinkles, can you make another cupcake arrangement for these guys ? pic.twitter.com/NDAOxrp9UT

Your disrespect towards the USA & the servicemen/women who fight to protect your freedoms, has lost my business.

take a hike.

Sprinkles Cupcakes’ move, like the Chicago flower shop that demanded customers condemn hate before they could place an order after Charlottesville, and the NFL’s protest of the National Anthem against racism and President Trump, is yet another attempt at making every single thing political. And people, apparently, don’t like it.
