It wasn’t long after the information was leaked that the SCOTUS is likely to overturn Roe v. Wade that some Democrats called for changes to the system, because things don’t seem to be turning out the way they would like.

“Expand the court, ” Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar tweeted, urging for more Supreme Court Justices to be put on the bench (at a time that Democratic President Joe Biden could nominate them) to manipulate the court’s membership for partisan ends.

“Congress must pass legislation that codifies Roe v. Wade as the law of the

land in this country NOW. And if there aren't 60 votes in the Senate to do

it, and there are not, we must end the filibuster to pass it with 50 votes,” tweeted Sen. Bernie Sanders.

A similar sentiment was shared by Sen. Jacky Rosen of Nevada who tweeted “It’s time to codify Roe into law.”

Democratic Sens. Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema said Tuesday they plan to uphold the filibuster. The two in the past have opposed moves to end the long-standing Senate rule.

But perhaps Republican Sen. Marco Rubio had the best reading of Bernie’s tweet.

“Translation: Let’s change the rules of the Senate to pass a federal law legalizing the killing of unborn children right up to the day of delivery.”
