They're trying to get the mask-mandate craze going again.
With the flu season starting earlier than most years, a host of “experts” are clamoring for kids in schools to start wearing masks, despite all the evidence that strongly suggests that masks are utterly useless.
Not only were children never in need of wearing masks -- they were one of the least likely demographics to be badly affected if they caught COVID -- studies have further shown that young babies who were inexplicably forced to wear them may have had their development stunted as a result.
(More evidence has suggested that the 3.6 million babies born during the first year of the COVID pandemic might have weaker immune systems due to the isolation and social distancing practices enforced by governments around the world.)
Masks appear by all reputable accounts to be as pointless as a concrete lifejacket.

But so many “sources” in the medical field refuse to hold to reason because, well, who cares about what’s true when you’re trying to push an agenda? “Trust the science,” except when you have to ignore it to make your point.
“We have learned through COVID that masks do indeed provide an additional layer of protection,” Dr. William Schaffner, a top infectious diseases expert at Vanderbilt University, said. “We have been anticipating that people of all ages that are interested in protecting themselves will do this.”
There really is no cure for stupidity, is there?
I could list more and more studies that clearly explain and show data that strongly suggests it's better to let kids go to school without a useless piece of cloth covering their face and risk getting sick than wear a mask - and still risk getting sick.
But as long as people like Schaffner are in the field and are given authority to speak, it won’t matter, because they are puppets for the left that say whatever their puppet masters want and not experts that should be trusted.
