The Daily Caller is reporting that two dozen GOP lawmakers sent a letter Monday calling on Joe Biden’s Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) nominee David Chipman to investigate Hunter Biden, for allegedly falsifying information on a background check form in order to obtain a gun illegally.

“Politico first reported that Hunter Biden answered “no” to the question about drug use on the Firearms Transaction Record for a gun back in October of 2018,” the letter states. “Many Americans are rightfully alarmed by these reports considering Mr. Biden’s history of drug use. In the past, the Biden family has been open about Mr. Biden’s struggle with substance abuse, and Navy records indicate his discharge from service following a positive drug test. Since lying on a background check form is a felony, this allegation merits investigation.

Sadly, lying on background checks is common, often called ‘lying and trying’, but rarely prosecuted.”

The document in question is a 4473 form, used to conduct background checks when purchasing a firearm.

Biden’s history of drug problems is well known and has even been discussed in recent television interviews.

Failing to provide truthful answers on a 4473 form can result in fines up to $250,000 and/or 10 years in prison.

A copy of the letter sent out from Rep. Bob Good (R-VA) and endorsed by 23 other Republicans can be read in its entirety below.
