Those evil Republicans and their tax cuts! Did you see what just happened?! Yet another giant company is going to give their employees bonuses and even hire a ton of new workers.
The nerve! How dare they!
Fiat Chrysler announced late on Thursday that they will be giving their U.S. employees a $2,000 bonus — each — and hire an additional 2,500 workers as a result of the savings they will accrue due to the GOP tax plan.
According to Fox Business:
The Italian-American automaker will pay each U.S. hourly and salaried employee a $2,000 bonus in the second quarter of 2018. The plan includes a total of 60,000 workers, excluding senior leadership.
The creation of 2,500 new jobs will support an expansion at Fiat Chrysler’s Warren Truck Assembly Plant in Michigan. Fiat Chrysler said the tax plan will enable the company to invest more than $1 billion in additional funds in the factory, where it will build the next generation of Ram heavy-duty pickup trucks once production shifts from Mexico in 2020.
Not to be outdone, Fiat Chrysler’s CEO Sergio Marchionne gave his stamp of approval for the GOP tax plan as the main reason their employees will see a boost in their income and why Fiat Chrysler can afford to hire so many new workers.
“It is only proper that our employees share in the savings generated by tax reform,” Marchionne said, “and that we openly acknowledge the resulting improvement in the U.S. business environment by investing in our industrial footprint accordingly.”
The announcement came less than a full day after Walmart announced that they will be giving prospective employees a starting wage increase, while giving current employees scaled bonuses and added benefits depending on the length of their tenure with the company.
Creating American jobs, paying higher wages and giving out bonuses as a result of cutting taxes. Who knew?
