During David Letterman's last "Late Night" Wednesday night, the Foo Fighters performed a fantastic tribute to the late night comedy legend.

The Foo Fighters have been one of the most visible musical acts of the last half of the "Late Night''s 33-year span with Letterman at the helm. The Fighters, led by former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl, fueled the modern rock scene during the mid-to-late 1990s, helped predominately by appearances on shows like "Late Night."

To show their appreciation, Grohl and company played their most famous song, "Everlong," while a montage of the many stages of the Letterman's career. Over the past 33 years, plenty has changed in both New York City and the United States, which helped Dave transition from old legacy of Johnny Carson and into creating his own legacy among the late night show hosts.
