An armed would-be thief got more than he bargained for when he tried to rob a convenience store in Norco, California, only to come face-to-face with a gun-toting senior citizen who – thankfully – happened to be armed himself...and a dang good shot.

Store surveillance footage caught the moment when a masked man – who police say was one in a group of four - barged into the store with a rifle. The extraordinarily brief encounter ended when the 80-year-old store clerk behind the counter opened fire, nailing the burglar in the arm with a single shotgun blast.

The wounded robber can be heard screaming to his fellow thieves, “He shot my arm off! He shot my arm off!” Which, in some circumstances, isn’t what you want to hear. In this case, however, it’s freaking hilarious.

The store's parking lot camera shows the guy then ran off with his fellow criminals back to their (turns out stolen) BMW and took off.

Police say that after a little while, they discovered a 23-year-old male at a local hospital suffering from a shotgun wound to the arm, giving them a pretty good indication of who the assailant was. His three compadres were nabbed outside the hospital still sitting in the stolen car.

We're clearly not dealing with the sharpest shivs in the prison, here.

As for the store clerk, he seemed less rattled by the incident than the guy who tried to lift his store.

"I would always protect my employees, my customers, myself. This instance, fortunately, I was here by myself, so I only had to worry about that. I took care of it and that was that," the store’s owner told local news outlets.
