Idaho House Passes Bill Criminalizing the Surgical Mutilation of Children - and the Left Hates It

The GOP-controlled Idaho House of Representatives passed a bill this week outlawing the physical mutilation of perfectly healthy children, and the left is outraged about it.

In a move that could only be classified as common sense by anyone with a brain and an ounce of decency, the state House passed a bill that makes it a felony, publishable by up to life in prison, to perform gender-transition surgery or prescribe hormone-altering medication meant to block or delay the onset of puberty to “transgender” children, adding the new stipulations to an existing law banning female genital mutilation. The bill also criminalizes transporting a child across state lines for the same procedures.

The bill, if passed by the state Senate and signed into law, effectively states that you cannot physically mutilate an underage person, and that any medical “transition” procedures must wait until the child reaches adulthood and can make those life-altering, often permanent medical decisions autonomously.

Makes sense, right?

Not to liberals, who think it should be perfectly legal to facilitate the chemical or physical castration or permanent physical modifying of otherwise healthy children – children who, for any host of reasons, could later find themselves regretting a “transition” decision they made when they were 12.

“These bills do nothing to invest and protect Idaho youth and families, and Idahoans deserve better,” Chase Strangio, the deputy director for transgender justice at the American Civil Liberties Union, told The Hill. “Criminalizing health care for transgender adolescents is counter to science, medicine and ethics and we stand ready to fight any attack on transgender youth and their families.”

While LGBTQ activists and transition advocates often point to higher rates of depression and suicide among trans youth as reasons to support transition procedures as “health care,” data shows that these conditions are often accompanied by underlying issues such as difficult home situations or even abuse, raising the question of whether transgenderism is a stand-alone condition or a symptom of a bigger problem. Research has also found that transition procedures like chemical castration and gender-“affirming” surgery does little to alleviate the mental health struggles faced by trans persons, with one study finding that the suicide rate among post-op trans persons was 10 to 15 times higher than those who had not undergone surgery.

Just don't expect leftists to care - after all, sacrificing children on the alter of a political agenda has never been a problem for them.
