Intoxicated Mother Uses 4-Year-Old Son to Blow Into Car's Breathalyzer

To say this is "bad parenting" is clearly an understatement. An Apopka, Florida woman was caught drunk this week as her four-year-old son breathed into her in-vehicle breathalyzer in order to make it start.

The woman, April R. King, left her two-year-old and 4-year-old children in a running car so she could enter Froggers Grill and Bar to have a few drinks. After 20 minutes she returned, drove around the parking lot, then entered the business next door.

Police arrived and interviewed King outside of her car. Her speech was slurring and she reeked of alcohol, according to her arrest affidavit. She could barely stand. As she was being questioned, the four-year-old went into the front seat and blew on the Breathalyzer, like he had possibly been trained to do.

According to King's husband, the woman just recently left rehab and has an alcohol problem, which might be another understatement.

"I think this is the best thing for her. Rehab hasn't worked and she hasn't learned anything from it," Mr. King said.

She was charged with child neglect and put in jail on a $1,500 bond.
