White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said that sending migrants to other states puts a “dangerous and unacceptable” strain on those areas, but neglected to comment on the strain on border towns.

During Monday’s press briefing, Jean-Pierre condemned the practice of sending migrants from clogged border states to Democrat-controlled areas in other states in response to recent White House border policies.

“I’ve said it many times from here, repeatedly from — from this podium, that busing or flying migrants around the country without any coordination with the federal government — we’ve talked about this — state or local officials as well — is dangerous and unacceptable,”  Jean-Pierre said. “And we’ll continue to be very, very clear about that.”

She asserted that moving migrants in this way “(puts) people’s lives at risk” and places “a lot of pressure” on state and local areas.

She made the statement in response to a question about an ongoing investigation into two flights that moved migrants to Sacramento, California recently. No one has taken responsibility for either of the flights yet, but documents allege that migrants were transported through a program of the Florida Division of Emergency Management and carried out by the same contractor used in similar moves last year.

Over the past year, governors from multiple states have sent migrants to Democrat-controlled areas, such as Chicago, New York City and Martha’s Vineyard in response to changing border policies. Democrat leaders of those areas have responded by condemning the actions of those governors and asking the federal government for more support

Some people took to social media to criticize what they saw as hypocrisy coming from the White House.

“Weapons-grade hypocrisy & stupidity,” Andrew Wagner, the Minnesota House GOP executive director, said in a Tweet. “They simply don’t care about the consequences of their de facto open border policies.”

“It takes a special kind of stupid to say something this self, evidently absurd - as if having 6 million illegal migrants in a few states along the border doesn’t put a lot of pressure and stress upon those states and local areas,” Frontiers of Freedom president George Landrith said

“The White House intentionally allows rampant illegal immigration into communities across the country. Then complains about the impact it’s having on cities,” U.S. Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) said. “You can’t make it up.”
