Allstate tried to delete a thoroughly absurd statement from president, chairman, and CEO Tom Wilson in the wake of the terror attack in New Orleans, LA. But unfortunately for them, the internet is forever.

Wilson released a pre-recorded statement that played during the early stages of the broadcast of the Sugar Bowl between the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the Georgia Bulldogs. Allstate was the sponsor for this prestigious college football game, which is why it was appropriate for Wilson to say anything in the first place. But while he was trying to share a message of unity, he instead spewed out some incredibly tone-deaf rhetoric to the fans watching.

Remember, this game was held just 36 hours after an ISIS sympathizer ran a truck into a crowd of people and killed at least 15 bystanders. You would think that Wilson would strongly condemn an act of terrorism on our own soil, but instead, he turned it into a “cancel hate” monologue.

“Our prayers are with the victims and our families we also need to be stronger together by overcoming an addiction to divisiveness and negativity. Join Allstate…to amplify the positive, increase trust, and accept people’s imperfections and difference. Together, we win,” Wilson said.

"Accept people’s imperfections"? "Overcome being divisive"? I don’t know if Wilson saw what happened in New Orleans, but to spin a terrorist attack into a lecture on how the rest of us just need to love people more is horse manure of the highest order.

No one, especially those in New Orleans, needs to offer grace and sympathy to a terrorist that killed their loved ones. Instead of lecturing the victims on how to love radicals more, Wilson should have condemned the terrorist and put his full support behind the victims. To spin this basically into a PR stunt for an ISIS affiliate is shameful in every possible way.

Allstate realized that after broadcasting it on ESPN and deleted it from their home account. But as you can see from the comments on the video making the rounds on social media, plenty of other people kept receipts.

Let’s normalize getting back to supporting our fellow Americans in a time of tragedy, not making sure we don’t hurt the feelings of terrorists.
