A Catholic high school girls volleyball team in Northern California could face punishment for choosing to forfeit a match against an opponent with a boy on its roster.

Stone Ridge Christian High School (SRCHS) was scheduled to play San Francisco Waldorf (SFW) over the weekend for a spot in the Northern California Division 6 high school girls final. OutKick noted that there is no hormone testing (or testing of any kind) necessary for a man to claim he’s a woman, and as soon as a man makes that declaration, he is allowed to have access to girl’s locker rooms and play on girls sports teams.

Once SRCHS found out the unfortunate truth about SFW’s roster, the school pulled out of the match. SRCHS did so out of safety and health concerns for their players, and expanded on the rationale for their actions in a statement.

"We believe God's Word is authoritative and infallible," SRCHS administrator Julie Fagundes wrote in a letter to the parents of the players. "God wonderfully and immutably created each person as male or female…We do not believe sex is changeable and we do not intend to participate in events that send a different message…So after consulting with our students, coaches, and staff, we have made the difficult decision to forfeit Saturday’s game. Standing for Biblical truth means more than the outcome of a game.”

Can I get an Amen please? Seriously, this is a wonderful statement and sign of commitment to truth. Unfortunately, they could face punishment for it by the California Interscholastic Association (CIF).

The San Francisco Chronicle reported that SRCHS let the CIF know that they planned on forfeiting the match in advance. However, they still are considering punishing the school for not playing.

“Any team that withdraws from CIF playoffs is subject to sanctions at both the Section and State levels. No decision has been made at this time regarding future sanctions, the CIF said.

The fact that SRCHS could face sanctions is patently absurd. But at least they showed tremendous courage to stand for their faith, the truth, and common sense.
