Someone should just hit the mute button whenever ESPN analyst Ryan Clark opens his mouth.
With the NFL draft coming up, the “First Take” panel discussed rumors that Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders would be drafted number three overall. The speculation comes from the fact that NFL executives find him to be arrogant, therefore hurting his draft stock.
Sanders was rumored to be one of the top two picks in the draft, but going number three overall isn’t a bad result, either. However, Clark said that Sanders’ draft stock dropping is a sign that the NFL holds a racist bias against black quarterbacks.
"It's not just about him being Deion Sanders' son. It's about the bravado he carries. It's about the fact that he looks a certain way. It is about the fact that the color of his skin sometimes at the position can be questioned." - Ryan Clark on Shedeur Sanders pic.twitter.com/OsvScp47LE

It’s times like this when a mute button would come in handy.
Four of the top 10 highest-paid quarterbacks (on a per-year basis) are black, including the number one overall - Dak Prescott. The top two picks in last year’s NFL draft were black quarterbacks. People correctly believe that Patrick Mahomes - who is half black - is the best quarterback in the league. Lamar Jackson has won the NFL MVP award twice, and he is black. We are so beyond any racial bias against black quarterbacks that it's not even funny.
And yet, Clark is still willing to peddle this narrative because Sanders might get drafted number three overall instead of number one or two. The funniest part of all this? The guy who is probably going to go number one overall is Miami Hurricanes quarterback Cam Ward - who is black.
This narrative of bias against black quarterbacks needs to die, and Clark should stop keeping it alive.
