Miami Dolphins' Blake Ferguson Calls Out Jemele Hill For Her Idiotic Dan Campbell Take

John Simmons | January 18, 2024

Miami Dolphins long snapper Blake Ferguson called out Jemele Hill for her atrocious analysis of Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell from 2021.

Three years ago, the Lions fired former head coach Matt Patricia after three seasons. Under Patricia’s leadership, Detroit finished dead-last in their division each year and compiled a 14-33-1 record. They needed a change at the helm, and fast.

So the Lions interviewed Robert Saleh, Eric Bieniemy, Marvin Lewis, Darrell Bevell (an interim coach for part of the 2020 season), and Campbell. Saleh, Bieniemy, and Lewis are all minorities. Eventually, the Lions chose Campbell, which didn’t sit well with Hill, who claimed that Detroit showed racial bias by choosing a white man over a black man.

In her effort to race-bait, Hill ignored some pretty big nuances of this hiring process. Over the years, Bieniemy’s players have said he didn’t relate to the athletes all that well. Lewis failed to win a playoff game in 16 years as a head coach for the Cincinnati Bengals. Detroit had legitimate reasons to want to pass on these guys. Plus, Saleh got a job as the head coach of the New York Jets that same year, so he didn’t get shortchanged by the Lions.

Now, Campbell didn’t have much head coaching experience under his belt, either. But he quickly endeared himself to the city by bringing an infectious swagger and no-quit attitude, something Detroit has lacked for most of the past three decades.

This was his introductory press conference to the media after scoring the job.

Detroit made a solid decision, and it looks even better now - all while Hill’s complaint and race-baiting looks even worse.

Fast forward to 2024. Campbell led the Lions to their first playoff win in 32 years by defeating the Los Angeles Rams 24-23 last week. A supremely loyal fanbase starved for playoff success finally gorged itself on an elusive playoff victory, in no small part because of the contagious leadership of Campbell.

Hill was wrong on all counts. Not only did she fail to see the nuances of Detroit’s decision to go with Campbell at the time, Hill had to watch the same guy that she slandered win a milestone game for his franchise. Also, she's from Detroit, so she robbed herself of being able to enjoy the win because she was too busy race-baiting.

But she still hasn’t made time to apologize.

One X page called Hill out for her three-year-old tweet about Campbell, and asked if she cared to comment. In response, she claimed that she needed some time to collect her thoughts and respond in an appropriate way.

Well, Ferguson didn’t buy that one bit. When he saw Hill’s attempt to stall, he quickly reminded her that she doesn’t need an extended time period to figure out what the proper response is.

If a team’s long snapper starts dunking on you for your stupidity, you know you’re reached a new low. Hill better get to typing her apology and stop stalling before Ferguson roasts her again.
