Olbermann Blasts Cardinals As 'Nazis' For HR Celebration He Claims Was Pro-Trump

John Simmons | July 23, 2024

There are few progressives that I can’t stand more than Keith Olbermann. Think of your most stereotypical unhinged, brainwashed, and downright mean liberal - multiply it by 10 and you’ve got Olbermann.

The Bluanon conspiracy advocate passes on no opportunity to verbally assault anyone for not being as blue-pilled as he is. The St. Louis Cardinals were the latest victim of an ignorant, unhinged rant of his.

On Sunday, the outfielder Alec Burleson hit a homerun against the Atlanta Braves. As he was rounding third base, he and his teammates did a celebration in which they covered their ears and raised their hands in celebration.

Many people on X thought the Cardinals were imitating Donald Trump’s reaction ot the crowd at a Butler, PA rally after he was shot. They believed the players covering their ears was a way to mimic Trump’s injury to his right ear during the assassination attempt.

However, after the game, St. Louis Dispatch reporter Derrick Goold posted that Cardinals first baseman Matt Carpenter said it was not a pro-Trump celebration. Rather, it was an ode to Burleson’s days as a rapper in college.

Looking back over the celebration, I can see how that makes sense. But Olbermann must have not done enough investigating into the matter (shocker) and operated under the impression that this was a sign of support for Trump.

Which led to this extremely uncalled for response on X (which has since been deleted). Here's the text form the tweet:

Attn @mlb ban these guys from baseball for life, confiscate the @Cardinals franchise, and implode the stadium

Cardinals = Trump Nazis
Stick to sports
FUCK THE ST. LOUIS CARDINALS

America has had enough of this shit.

Calling an entire team Nazis? Confiscating the franchise? What are we, six years old?

Not only is it this all wildly inappropriate, it's hypocritical for him to tell St. Louis to not do any kind of political messaging in the game.

He certainly seemed fine when former San Francisco Giants manager Gabe Kapler wouldn’t stand for the national anthem in 2022.

That’s classic Keith for ya. Ever hypocritical, misinformed, and always on the hunt to tear people down - even if he’s wrong to do so.
