New England Patriots linebacker Christian Ellis signed a deal with the team, and he used his first press conference to praise God for it.

On Tuesday, the Patriots and Ellis agreed to a two-year deal worth $13.5 million. The Las Vegas Raiders had offered him the same amount of money, but New England matched it to keep him in Foxborough.

At his press conference, Ellis talked about how it helped him and his wife have some stability for the future and can help them build a life. However, he spent most of his time praising God for providing a situation where he and his family could thrive.

"Above all else, I try to lead wherever God takes me, I’m good wherever. I think God will use me anywhere (in) any organization I’m in and then I’m gonna put my best foot forward. And I think God has something special for me here, whether I know what it is or not it doesn’t matter to me so weather is here Vegas… I’m very happy to be here, but it’s all in God‘s hands," Ellis said.

Ellis has also spent time with the Philadelphia Eagles, but he has been cut from NFL rosters several times. That led him to question whether or not God had plans for him in his NFL career, but he said God helped him be faithful even amidst hardship.

“I’ve been cut seven times you know I’ve been bouncing around the league and its like, ‘Did God really allow this to happen to me?’” Ellis said. “I think when you do do well with a little you’ll do well with a lot. You know I don’t know what the future holds but as long as I keep (doing) what I’m doing, I think God has me wherever I’m gonna be, so it’s nothing but a blessing.”

Looks like the Patriots got a phenomenal player and person locked up for the next two years.
