After a wild Peach Bowl between the Texas Longhorns and the Arizona State Sun Devils in the College Football Playoff, one player each from an opposing team shared a moment of unity in Christ.
Texas outlasted Arizona State in an instant classic, winning 39-31 in double overtime. Even in defeat, Sun Devils running back Cam Skattebo put up a performance for the ages, rushing for 133 yards, catching 99 more, scoring two touchdowns, and throwing one on a fourth down in the fourth quarter to keep the game alive. It was a performance for the ages, but it just wasn’t quite enough to overcome the Longhorns.

After the game, Texas running back Nick Sanders found Skattebo after the game to congratulate him on a fantastic performance (it was Skattebo’s final college game). Instead of simply greeting him and parting ways, Sanders took a moment to pray for the future NFL draft pick.
“Can I pray for you?”

This is beautiful. Skattebo and the Sun Devils were rightfully devastated after the loss, and in that moment of suffering, a member of the opposing team went up to him and offered him comfort. And you can tell by Skattebo’s body language that he was deeply appreciative of the gesture.
There are few things in life as beautiful as athletes using Christ as a way to bridge gaps between rivals.
