Vice President Kamala Harris has made her first public appearance since losing the 2024 presidential election, and it wasn’t pretty.
The failed presidential candidate spent just under 10 minutes talking to those who helped her make a run for the Oval Office, and I listened to every bit of it (I really, really wish I could have those moments of my life back). Within this speech were the common talking points about how her campaign sought to lift people up and not tear people down, how she hoped America would strive for unity, and all the other nonsense you’d expect from her. But through it all, something seemed…off.
Look, I get it. You could say that about pretty much every appearance Harris makes on camera. But this was especially bad. She stumbled over her words several times, took extra long to lift her eyelids when blinking, and looked disoriented at several points. Perhaps her worst stretch of the speech was this 20-second clip:

"I just have to remind you, don’t let anybody take your power from you. You have the same power that you did before Nov. 5, and you have the same purpose that you did. And you have the same ability to engage and inspire. So don’t ever let anybody or any circumstance take your power from you," Harris said.
Cringe.
We all get that losing a presidential election does not mean we lose our rights as an American citizen. We don’t need a questionably drunk, washed up, communist politician reminding us of that. She should have just stayed in vacation mode and enjoyed the Hawaii sun.
Predictably, Harris got torched on X in particular for that 20-second excerpt above:

I’ll say this: one thing I’m thankful for this year is that I won’t have to listen to this slurred nonsense for the next four years, and I know there are plenty of Americans who agree.
