LeBron James is among the most progressive athletes in America, who race-baits with regularity and unashamedly bows to the Chinese government that controls his league.

However, even people like James can occasionally have a logical and reasonable perspective on a situation. Don’t believe me? Allow me to show you.

James co-hosts a podcast called “Mind the Game” with former NBA star JJ Reddick. Yesterday, the two were discussing the hype that Indiana Fever Guard Caitlin Clark has brought to the WNBA.

Despite the popularity Clark provides to a league that has otherwise lived in obscurity, many people have tried to sabotage her reputation. Whether it’s Las Vegas Aces star A’ja Wilson claiming she’s only popular because she’s white, or Jemele Hill chiming in with her usual nonsense, Clark has been the victim of a lot of unjustified hatred.

Jealous individuals like these would rather tear down the first marketable star the league has ever had instead of building her up and thanking her for what she’s done for the league.

James has seen all of this and provided his thoughts. While you might have expected him to play into the race-baiting narrative, he did the exact opposite.

"The one thing that I love that she's bringing to her sport? More people want to watch. More people want to tune in. Don't get it twisted. don't get it f*cked up. Caitlin Clark is the reason why a lot of great things are going to happen for the WNBA,” James told Reddick. “But for her individually, I don't think she should get involved on nothing that's being said. Just go have fun. Enjoy. I'm rooting for Caitlin because I've been in that seat before. I've walked that road before. I hope she kills.”

Shockingly for once, I wholeheartedly agree with James. He said that Clark and her talents are what’s making the WNBA more popular, not her skin color or sexuality. And his advice about staying focused on the game and not engaging with the likes of Wilson and Hill is top-notch.

Don’t expect James to be this rational on everything in the future. Even so, it’s good to see that he can indeed think logically and not spew racist narratives all of the time.
