The WNBA wants you to respect women’s sports, as if most people don’t already.
On Thursday night, the Atlanta Dream hosted the Indiana Fever in a WNBA clash. Atlanta decided to make a court design that had the following message on it: “Pay some respect to women’s sports.”

New season.
New era.
New court.
It's more than just a statement, it's a movement. @CashApp x @Playa_Society #DoItForTheDream pic.twitter.com/pHM1qgYnjR
Cool color scheme. Awful message.
Most people do respect women’s sports. In fact, the WNBA is more popular than ever. While the viewership numbers may not be the same as the ones that men’s sports leagues, that doesn’t mean we don’t respect them. It just means that the men’s product of most sports is more appealing.
What people don’t respect is leagues like the WNBA (and its players) constantly whining about how their product receives less attention than others, while blaming it on the most ridiculous reasons imaginable.

Furthermore, it's racism that's not respected in a league where successful white players face racist hatred, and no one is held accountable for it.
The league should do some introspection about how people view women's sports before plastering messages like this on its courts. It would certainly help them in the long run.
