A midwife’s role is to facilitate life and provide pre-born babies with a safe threshold to enter the world. But one murderous midwife was just arrested for making her mission the opposite.

Texas Doctor Maria Margarita Rojas allegedly owned and operated three so-called “health clinics” in the northwest area of Houston, according to Attorney General Ken Paxton. It turns out, he claims, those “clinics” were actually abortion businesses in disguise.

In a statement released Monday, Paxton announced Rojas was charged earlier this month for deliberately killing the pre-born, a second-degree felony in Texas, as well as practicing medicine without a license. Her accomplice and employee, Jose Ley faces the same charges.

NBC notes this appears to be the first time a “health care provider” in Texas has been criminally charged with aborting a child since the state’s baby killing ban went into effect in 2022. The law targets practitioners but not the recipients of the deadly procedure.

Rojas also faces a temporary restraining order, shutting down her network of "clinics" to prevent more babies from being murdered.

“In Texas, life is sacred. I will always do everything in my power to protect the unborn, defend our state’s pro-life laws, and work to ensure that unlicensed individuals endangering the lives of women by performing illegal abortions are fully prosecuted,” promised Paxton.

“Texas law protecting life is clear, and we will hold those who violate it accountable,” he vowed.
