While feminists and Islamic fundamentalists are diametrically opposed in their ideology, they both apparently believe blowing up people is the best way to handle non-believers. That’s at least how one Australian woman felt when she allegedly set her longtime friend on fire for making a remark she deemed “misogynistic.”
24-year-old Corbie Jean Walpole has just pleaded guilty to dousing 23-year-old Jake Loader in gasoline before setting him ablaze in January of 2024 after a night of partying, according to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC).
Her victim was found mangled with life threatening burns to 55% of his body. He remained in an induced coma for eight days, before spending 74 days in a burns unit at Melbourne hospital, where he endured 10 operations.
Since Loader’s sweat glands were burnt off, he struggles with temperature regulation and can no longer expose his skin to the sun, reports ABC.

What terrible thoughtcrime did he commit to deserve being disfigured?
Loader had reportedly told Walpole, who was 23 and heavily intoxicated at the time, to “stay in the kitchen making scones where she belonged,” and stop “drinking with the boys.”
Perhaps she should’ve taken his advice if that naughty joke fired up the belligerent drunk to the point of taking out her lighter and a five-liter container of gasoline. On a second thought…maybe she should stay far away from kitchens, after all.
“You could have walked away from this, couldn’t you, but you didn’t,” scolded Crown prosecutor Max Pincott during Walpole’s court hearing. Instead, she defensively sobbed that she was “overwhelmed,” blaming Loader for “push(ing) her over the edge.”
At least she knows how to cook something!
