The transgender movement has done much to negatively impact the cultural, economic, and athletic landscape for biological women. As such, if real women started speaking out about the dark side of the trans movement (side note -- there is no bright side), you would think other real women would be thrilled.

But don’t expect Democrat California Rep. and senate hopeful Katie Porter to be one of those people.

On Friday’s edition of “Real Time With Bill Maher,” Porter, Maher, and British journalist Piers Morgan entered into a discussion about Riley Gaines speaking out against transgenders in women’s sports. Porter believes Gaines -- who has voiced her concerns against transgenderism after being forced to swim against Lia Thomas -- is only offering her opinions on these issues for her own personal gain.

“I think that what she has done is try to turn this — we talked about people becoming — using things to kind of get likes and get clicks,” Porter said, mumbling her answer when asked why she disagreed with Gaines.

Surprisingly, Morgan and Maher both disagreed with Porter and correctly explained why the transgender movement has done nothing positive for women, leaving Porter unable to respond.

That kind of pushback from two media liberals is encouraging.

Gaines herself caught wind of Porter’s statements and firmly stated that the reasons she is so strongly using her voice is not for likes and self-affirmation, but so that female athletes like herself don’t have to experience a similar fate.

It’s not like she’s been receiving a hero’s welcome wherever she goes either. Last week at a Turning Point USA event at San Francisco State University, she was physically assaulted by a trans activist who was offended by what she had to say.

If she were after affirmation, stuff like this would deter her from speaking out. But she’s made it clear she’s not going to stop fighting any time soon.

“People are being eye-opened. Maybe two years ago, when a lot of this started coming to light, people wanted to virtue signal,” Gaines said shortly after being attacked. “But now, they’re seeing how this is harmful to women.”
