With her vintage sound and unique vocals, Lana Del Rey built much of her popularity off of an American flag aesthetic and nostalgic imagery that takes her listeners back in time. But despite her historical success in using the flag during several performances, Del Rey claims she won't be using it anymore now that Donald Trump is in the Oval Office.

In an interview with Pitchfork, Lana explained her use of romanticized American imagery and how Donald Trump's presidency has affected how she performs on tour. She said:

It's certainly uncomfortable. I definitely changed my visuals on my tour videos. I'm not going to have the American flag waving while I'm singing 'Born to Die.' It's not going to happen. I'd rather have static. It's a transitional period, and I'm super aware of that. I think it would be innappropriate to be in France with an American flag, It would feel weird to me now -- it didnt feel weird in 2013.

All the guys in the studio -- we didn't know we were going to start walking in every day and talking about what was going on. We hadn't ever done that before, but everyday during the election, you'd wake up and some new horrible thing was happening. Korea, with missiles suddenly being pointed at the western coast. With 'When the World Was at War We Kept Dancing,' I was posing a real question to myself: Could this be the end of an era? The fall of Rome?

This is far from the only indication that Del Ray is not happy about the current administration. Also at issue is her public support of occult rituals presumably aimed at removing Trump from the presidency. The musician has tweeted out several dates that are observed as precise times to conduct Wiccan rituals, according to a representative. This comes at a time when a movement of self-styled witches have tried to cast spells to boot Trump from office.

Though Del Ray's anti-Trump antics aren't as drastic as those of other Hollywood lunatics like Katy Perry or Lena Dunham, her refusal to even display the American flag post-Trump's inauguration seats her smack dab in the middle with all the other famous crazies who can't handle this presidency.
