Immediately following the news that Tesla CEO Elon Musk has offered to buy Twitter in its entirely for more than $43 billion, leftists who have so far enjoyed their liberal social media cocoon free of words and thoughts that they find objectionable began melting down over the news that the supposedly "free speech" website may soon allow...well, free speech.
And the (over)reactions were nothing short of glorious.
Some seemed resigned...
Twitter has a lot of problems but if Elon Musk took it over, it’d eventually be unusable.

this is the end of twitter

I am frightened by the impact on society and politics if Elon Musk acquires Twitter. He seems to believe that on social media anything goes. For democracy to survive, we need more content moderation, not less.

...while others just lost their minds.
All that is nonsense. Elon Musk is a real life extremely horrible human being. That tech bros like him is ridiculous.

Twitter kicks you off to prevent mass harm to people. He'd prevent that. Let the people die, knowing false ish is being spread, and laugh about it.
When I criticized Musk for worker violations at Tesla, he blocked me.

When a college student started a Twitter account to track Musk’s private plane, Musk tried to buy him off, before blocking him.
Does that sound like a "free speech absolutist" to you? https://t.co/5BU3sGv7oq
We are the assets of @Twitter. If we walk out the door the moment @ElonMusk takes it over, it is nothing. And, I can tell you, I for one, have no desire to participate in the social engineering experiment of that particular out-of-control megalomaniac.

Elon Musk is why to abolish billionaires.

Asking them to chip in their fair share isn’t enough. Regulating them isn’t enough.
When people are allowed to acquire this much concentrated influence, they will inevitably manspread economic power into every other form of power.
Some suggested Musk isn't qualified to talk about "social matters" like "free speech." (And yes, the irony is thick.)
Elon, seriously.

It's a consensus in social sciences that free speech can't be limitless. You should keep investing your time in things you actually know how it works, like the engineering fields that u are great on it. Leave social matters to people that study it.
It looks like things are ramping up over in the Twitterverse, with no sign that Elon will be backing down from his push for more free speech anytime soon. But no matter the ultimate outcome, two things are for absolute certain: one, the left really doesn't like watching their control of the narrative threatened.
And two? Their meltdown is incredibly fun to watch.
