Paul Pelosi, husband of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, was reportedly attacked with a weapon in the couple’s San Francisco home Thursday night.
Police said the male intruder came in through the house’s back door and assaulted the 82-year-old man with a hammer. Nancy Pelosi, who is usually surrounded by her own security team, wasn’t home at the time.
Paul Pelosi was hospitalized but is expected to be OK, according to Nancy Pelosi’s office. Meanwhile, a man has already been arrested in connection with the incident. Interestingly, none of the reports note how the attacker was able to get past the home's gate and into the house undetected, nor do they include any details about the guy.
And that about sums up all the actual information we have about the attack so far, as of 11 a.m. on Friday morning. But the lack of details or confirmed motive didn’t stop leftists from immediately assuming the attack was politically motivated and that the perp must have been a rabid right-wing nut job.
This is nightmarish. I wish Paul Pelosi a full and rapid recovery. The far right has normalized the use of violence even against the families of public officials with whom somebody might disagree. This absolutely must stop. https://t.co/TZbcCCqyHn

Reminder some violent insurrectionists incited by Trump wanted to kill Nancy Pelosi and Mike Pence on January 6.

Now, maybe the attacker was an “ultra-MAGA” radical with an axe to grind. Maybe he was one of the mentally ill homeless drifters who clog up the streets of San Francisco sleeping on piles of feces and dirty needles, or one of the countless criminals who've been allowed to run loose in a town too busy defunding its own police department to get a hold of its violence.
The point is, no one knows - much less Twitter warriors over on social media who're looking to score quick, cheap political points.
