A group of gay, lesbian, trans, and queer people in Rochester, New York have created the “Trigger Warning Queer and Trans Gun Club” to teach themselves how to use guns for self-defense.

13WHAM reports the group, which formed after the election of President Trump, meets once a month to learn gun safety.

Co-founder Jake Allen told 13WHAM, “One of the questions that was asked was, ‘What brings you out here today?’ And one of the biggest things was I’m fearful of the rise of violence coming from the far-right.”

Lore McSpadden, who had never held a gun before, said, “We’re acknowledging our fear of a world in which conservatives are the only ones who are armed.”

The Democrat & Chronicle reports there are currently 18 dues-paying 18 members of the group, all who identify on the LGBTQ spectrum.
