Trans activists protested at the Iowa State Capitol over…a bill defining biological sex.
Detransitioner Laura Becker, a woman who used to identify as a man but who now testified in favor of the bill, said on X that the activists were protesting for “hours” over House Study Bill 649, which aimed to codify the definition of biological sex in order to safeguard sex-segregated spaces.
“F*ck this legislation, trans liberation!” they chanted while waving signs.
Signs included messages such as the histrionic “end trans genocide,” the violent “queers bash back” (with the “a” drawn to look like a blood splatter), and the very simple, “help.”

Perhaps the most disturbing aspect of the rally was the presence of an eight-year-old boy coached by his mother to identify as transgender. The boy, who believes he's a girl, had previously gone viral in a video posted on his mother’s TikTok, in which she told him bad-faith interpretations about the current legislation to combat gender ideology.

At the protest, the boy held a sign reading “protect me,” not realizing that his fellow protesters were the very people who he needed protection from.
