Mass Drug Overdose in Brooklyn Likened to a Zombie Apocalypse

Zombies took over Brooklyn on Tuesday. Well, not exactly.

One Brooklyn resident described the mass K2 overdose that sent 33 users to the hospital as “Zombieland.” Some of the synthetic marijuana users shuffled around the streets in a bumbling daze, while many others simply passed out on the ground in public. One man suffered from a seizure.

Throughout the morning, police and emergency medical staff took overdosed users to receive help on stretchers, giving the area a post-apocalyptic atmosphere.

Sadly for all the Armageddon enthusiasts out there, Tuesday was not the beginning of the end times. However, it certainly was a wake-up call for those trying to control inner-city drug abuse. Even though K2 was made illegal in New York City in October, the New York City Health Department had to issue a statement to “remind New Yorkers that K2 is extremely dangerous.”

On Wednesday, Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams reportedly held a public meeting addressing the incident. He allegedly distributed materials about drug safety around Broadway and Myrtle Avenue.

Hopefully, their efforts will be enough to prevent another near zombie experience for the area.
