It’s sad that it has become almost shocking to see an athlete or celebrity be so open to visiting President Donald Trump at the White House. It used to be an honor for sports teams, athletes and others to visit the president, but since the media have so effectively smeared the Commander-in-Chief’s reputation some teams have shied away from the privilege.
Not 2019 Masters golf tournament champion Tiger Woods, apparently.
White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders announced on Thursday that Woods will be awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom this coming Monday, May 6.
Here’s Sanders’ tweet:
President Trump will award the Presidential Medal of Freedom to world-renowned golfer Tiger Woods on Monday, May 6 in the White House Rose Garden. The event will be invitation only and covered by the press.

Trump first announced his intent to honor Woods on Twitter following his thrilling, yet unexpected victory at this year’s Masters tournament in Augusta, Ga, which Woods will also be receive honors for. It was Woods’ 15th major tournament victory and first since 2008.
