Decked out in patriotic clothes and carrying American flags, dozens of students walked out of a Central Florida high school in support of gun rights last Friday.
And if you didn’t know about it, don’t feel bad – it definitely didn’t make the national news outlets outside of conservative circles.

A group of students from Rockledge High School in Brevard County briefly walked out of class Friday to show their support for the Second Amendment.
About 75 students, according to a head count by school administrators, walked onto the school's track carrying the American flag and signs that said "guns don't kill people, people kill people" and "I support the right to bear arms." The event lasted about 20 minutes and then students returned to class.
The event was attended by students from all demographics – guys, girls, black, white, they were all there. The group played the National Anthem and “God Bless America” before Delaney read a quote from former President Ronald Reagan from a 1993 NRA banquet: "The Constitution does not say that government shall decree the right to keep and bear arms. The Constitution says '... the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.'"

Rockledge junior Zachary Schneider told Florida Today that he wanted to show the country that not all high school students are anti-gun.
"It's all over the news right now that all students hate guns. I wanted to show that not all students feel that way," he said.
He also said he doesn’t appreciate the new Florida law raising the gun buying age to 21.
“I finally got old enough to buy my own ammunition and my own guns, and I lost it again," he said.
(For what it’s worth, the NRA is suing Florida over the new law, saying it strips legal adult citizens of their Second Amendment rights.)
The grassroots walkout was organized by sophomore Chloe Deaton and junior Anna Delaney – who, if you can’t tell by their names, are both girls. Which is awesome.
While the walkout was small compared to the thousands of students who stomped out of class two weeks ago in protest of guns (understandable, given that Rockledge’s pro-gun walkout wasn’t backed by celebrities, the Democratic party, and the entire national news media), it’s also worth noting that no one got into fist fights, vandalized cop cars or broke any windows during the event.
