Leftists still don’t seem to understand that, way more times than not, criminals don’t register their weapons. They also don’t seem to understand that “gun-free zones” are the places that homicidal maniacs typically choose to carry out their mass shootings.
The powers-that-be in Missoula, Montana are apparently in line with those that just don’t get it.
According to KGVO, the Missoula City Council passed not one, but two new city ordinances, one of which is being labeled as an “emergency ordinance," that will ban firearms in pretty much any public place.
KGVO reported that the firearms ban is applicable for “all polling places, schools, parks, museums, libraries and the city council chambers.”
Local pastor Jean Larson told KGVO that she supports the ban.
“Gun violence is a public health emergency in our country,” Larson said. “95 people a day are killed by guns in our country. We have a need to be safe and a right to be safe from this public health emergency.”
However, Breitbart reported that those who tout the 90-plus gun-related killings a day number are severely inflating it to push their agenda.
According to Breitbart:
In other words, there are approximately 11,000 or 12,000 firearm related homicides in our country each year. So to raise that figure high enough to bolsters claims of “95 people a day” gun control proponents add in suicides, roughly 22,000 a year, and accidental firearm deaths, approximately 500 a year, then report all of them as if they were homicides.
Leave it to the Left to fudge facts and statistics to push their anti-Second Amendment stances.
If you look at the statistics of the leading causes of death in the U.S., according to a 2017 Centers for Disease Control (CDC) report, gun-related homicides weren't even in the top 10 in 2016.
Health and wellness website Healthline broke down the CDC report listing the “12 Leading Causes of Death in the United States.” Gun-related homicide was nowhere to be found, with heart disease being the number one cause of death in the U.S.
The Second Amendment will most likely never be overturned on a federal level. The people won’t stand for it. Maybe that’s why local governments are taking matters out of the hands of their citizens.
