A mother in Fort Collins, Colo., was convicted of distributing marijuana after police say her 19-year-old son jumped from a third-floor window after eating a marijuana-laced brownie she gave him.

Police were called to investigate the incident after Austin Essig launched himself from a third story window “without hesitation.” Police and emergency medical responders found Essig seriously injured on the ground below the window.

An investigation found Essig had only consumed a single dose of the edible drug and had not consumed any other substance prior.

Juliane Jablonski was charged with felony tampering with a witness and a misdemeanor for providing marijuana to an underage person. The jury only found her guilty of the latter.

Investigators collected the remainder of the marijuanafor lab analysis to determine the level of THC and to confirm if the results corresponds with the label on its packaging. The results have yet to be made public.

Though the state of Colorado has legalized recreational use of marijuana, the law still requires an individual to be 21 years old before they can use or possess the substance.
