In an open letter to Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam, Media Research Center President and Founder Brent Bozell slammed the Democrat state leader over his bizarre and absurd decision to remove the American flag from a state construction site in the days leading up to July 4 under the excuse that the flag posed a "safety risk" amid protests.

Bozell called the move an "utter outrage," saying it's "beyond the pale" that a governing official would order the U.S. flag taken down - especially on the eve of a national celebration commemorating American independence.

"As the Governor, the buck stops with you. If you do not immediately terminate the individual responsible for this outrage you’re caving into the lawless mobs rampaging on cities," Bozell fired at the governor.

The flag had reportedly been put up last week by construction workers at the site, only to be removed hours later at the governor's direction over concerns that it would be a "target" for violent protesters.

Read the entirety of Bozell's letter below.

Dear Governor Northam,

Who in the hell do you think you are allowing the American flag to be taken down in Richmond leading up to the 4th of July?

According to a July 3 article in the Washington Post “officials ordered it [the flag] removed, calling the banner a ‘safety risk’ and potential ‘target’ for demonstrators.”

This is an utter outrage.

Virginia is the cradle of our country. For state officials to have ordered the flag to be taken down, in all places in the commonwealth of Virginia, is beyond the pale. Whoever is responsible for ordering this absurdity should immediately and publicly be held responsible and then fired.

The flag represents the blood sacrificed throughout our history by brave patriots defending the freedom of ingrates like you. The takedown of the flag, under your watch, is a slap in the face to all those men and women who died protecting our freedoms and fighting under our flag.

As the Governor, the buck stops with you. If you do not immediately terminate the individual responsible for this outrage you’re caving into the lawless mobs rampaging on cities. More: You are just as complicit in its takedown. Perhaps it is you who should be removed.

Sincerely,

L. Brent Bozell III
