In response to Facebook overhauling its platform to reduce political posts, Media Research Center (MRC) President Brent Bozell made the following statement:

“This is the nightmare many conservatives have warned about and have been outright dismissed by the media as alarmists and conspiracy theorists. First it was President Trump, now it is the entire conservative movement.

“Do not be fooled into believing this policy will apply equally to both liberal and conservative speech. Left-wing, hyperpartisan media outlets like CNN will be labeled as nonpartisan, factual news while conservative media will be censored into oblivion. This is not a reduction of political content, this is a purge of an entire ideology from the online forum.

“Just over a year ago, Mark Zuckerberg spoke at Georgetown University where he touted Facebook as a platform that embraces and defends our freedom of speech. Now, just days into the new administration and Congress, Facebook has abandoned that sentiment and has utterly caved into the demands of leftists. The left is using their power to pressure Silicon Valley into crippling their political opponents.

“This does not end with speech. Big Tech can censor us in every aspect of our lives from work to shopping to politics. We are fighting for the right to be free online and off.

“The conservative movement must unify now behind this existential threat or face extinction. Big Tech must be broken up. The free market can no longer save us from Silicon Valley’s monopolistic stranglehold over our online freedom.”
