Big Story: Guns

Obama's executive orders on gun control this week resulted in a strong response. The NRA released a full video response,  and GOP presidential candidate Sen. Ted Cruz responded by giving away a free shotgun. Tensions over guns resulted in a heated protest at Obama's Thursday evening presidential town hall at George Mason University to address the issue.

Hot: Officer Jesse Hartnett, Philadelphia PD

Officer Jesse Hartnett of the Philadelphia Police Department was shot three times while sitting in his car this past Thursday evening. Despite this, Hartnett STILL managed to exit his car and heroically aid fellow officers. Police arrested the would be killer Edward Archer, who confessed to the crime, and claimed he was a supporter of ISIS who committed the attack in the name of Islam.

Cold: Newsweek

Newsweek senior writer Alexander Nazaryan tweeted out a photo comparing Ted Cruz with the Nazis. Remember, this is a guy who gets paid to write about politics for a living. Food for thought the next time the media talks about how "objective" they are when writing about conservatives.

Strange: PETA Feeds Oregon Protesters

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) distributed vegan jerky to the militia men occupying the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge in Oregon. PETA claims the protesters need to get out of the cattle industry. One of the protesters liked the jerky, remarking that it tasted like "salmon."

Key Stat: 8.1 million

That's the projected population of Muslims in the USA by 2050, which would make it the second most popular religion in America.
