“This is an insane argument. They're basically saying, ‘Hey, America, we get to reach into your wallets and take your money. And if we don't - if we're not allowed to - that's a violation of our freedom of speech,’”MRCTV’s Eric Scheiner told Newsmax viewers on Friday.
“NPR can say whatever they want. I just question whether or not we have to pay for it. And I don't think we should,” Scheiner added.
Scheiner and Tim Graham of MRC’s NewsBusters were discussing National Public Radio’s recent lawsuit that claims Donald Trump’s executive order instructing federal agencies to terminate direct and indirect funds for NPR violates their First Amendment rights.

“So after the lawsuit was filed on Monday morning, the CEO, Katherine Maher, came on the PBS NewsHour - as she typically does. Jeff Bennett, the anchor at PBS, was like, ‘What say you about the Republicans that say it's biased?’ And she's like, ‘No, no, we're not biased. We're a nonpartisan news network,’ Graham said.
“And it's such a lie - anybody who sits down, you know - I listen to NPR in my car while I'm commuting and it's all ‘Trump and Musk are awful. ‘Look at how children are going to die because we cut funding to USAID’ - that's the kind of story that they do on NPR. It should be obvious to anyone who's actually listening. So, you know, I think the lawsuit is ludicrous.”
