A blistering disregard for the presumption of innocence in high-profile cases and high-drama interrogations are just two of the hallmarks of former prosecutor Nancy Grace’s TV show – but this time she has outdone herself.

She posted this image to her Facebook page, with the message: “Let's test your #CrimeIQ! What held the door open to little Haleigh Cummings’ home the morning she was discovered missing? I’ll reveal the answer here tomorrow & announce a winner on the show tomorrow night!”

Even more sickening, most of the replies in the thread are answering the question of her “game” rather than questioning this exploitation.

Of course, that’s because fans of her show are used to this. In 2011, a scathing New York Times article criticized Grace’s handling of several high-profile cases, including the kidnapping of Elizabeth Smart, the Duke Lacrosse Case, the Melinda Duckett interview and suicide and the Caylee Anthony case. Grace, as an attorney and reporter, "has managed to demean both professions with her hype, rabid persona, and sensational analysis,” said George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley. “Some part of the public takes her seriously, and her show erodes the respect for basic rights.”

That part of the public is also comfortable answering a Facebook “game” like this.
