This really shouldn’t come as a shock, on any level, that House Speaker Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) has refused to denounce socialism. There’s a reason that a lot of former “liberals” are now called leftists, and it’s not because of any kind of trend.
Fox News is reporting that despite “multiple phone calls to Pelosi’s office,” the divisive California congresswoman won’t answer whether or not she agrees with or disagrees with the socialist push by a section of the Democratic Party.
According to Fox News:
Fox News had requested comment several times -- including multiple phone calls to Pelosi's office -- with inquiries about whether she opposed the ideology and whether she would allow any self-described socialists elected in the Democratic caucus to hold leadership positions in the House of Representatives.
During a press conference on Friday, Pelosi acknowledged that there was a "difference of opinion" among members of her caucus as a rift between moderates and progressives appears to have expanded following the 2020 election.
There definitely seems to be segments to both political parties following the turmoil of the last couple of years in Washington. Both parties have an “establishment” portion to them, and both parties have a second half to them — which looks to be comprised of a few different perspectives.
Socialism in general doesn’t vibe with the way the U.S. has traditionally done things, but some are wondering whether the rise of both “progressives” and “conservatives” could eventually entail a death knell for the two-party system.
