The Navy's New Media Virgins

The blog presence aboard the USS Kearsarge is a first. We are the Navy’s new media virgins -- and it shows because the service doesn’t know what to do with us. It took the folks in charge of the blog corps hours to find space for us to sleep without the full enlistment treatment -- and the lone female blogger is getting that treatment. They couldn't find a separate room for Boston Maggie, so she's sleeping in standard berthing spac. Now it’s the close of the first day, and we still have no Internet access. What in the world was the Navy thinking when it invited a bunch of bloggers aboard a ship ostensibly to live-blog but then didn’t have the tools for us to do our jobs?! I hate blogging in Microsoft Word in order to backdate posts later. It defeats the whole purpose of blogging, the spontaneity of it all.
