Well it looks like Miley Cyrus has decided to go the heavily traveled cheap skank pop-star route. Here she is fake making out, or as I now call it faking out, with a female dancer while performing her new song "Can't be tamed" on Britain's Got Talent" (h/t Gawker):
This is pathetically predictable. When a pop star reaches a certain age in hollywood she is expected to become a massive whore... gross. In this case it is particularly sad since Miley had appeared to resist this trap up until recently.
But, hey, we might even consider this a late entry into hollywood slutdom these days. After all Miley is not 17 and this is the same entertainment industry that stands behind a child rapist movie director and regularly sexualizes girls far younger than that. Whats clear though is that this is par for the course in a perverted and disgusting industry.
Perhaps she will realize what shes doing to herself and stop. Perhaps the people behind her new gross act will grow a soul and stop. Perhaps I'll win a lifetime supply of cheese tomorrow...
Whats more likely is Miley will continue to be pushed down this path until shes just another washed up drug addicted former child star wondering where it all went wrong. It seems to me that her only hope is that we speak out against the perverted image that's being built around her. We can do that by, well, directly speaking our minds about how wrong this is. But also speak out by not buying tickets to her shows or music or letting your children listen to her either.
Clearly Miley Cyrus is no longer a good influence and its simply sad to see her begin a decent into smut.
UPDATE: After re-reading this post I want to clarify a couple of things. First, not everybody in the entertainment industry is a horrible or immoral person and they don't all agree with trends like this. The rise of Big Hollywood and others is emblematic of that fact. Second, I'm not trying to say that Miley Cyrus is actually a slut/whore/whatever in real life. Instead I'm saying that her singing that song, in that outfit, with that choreography makes it apparent that the Miley Cyrus public image will now intentionally be that of a slut/whore/whatever and that is incredibly disappointing.
