County officials in one New York county seem to be realizing that letting in hundreds of poorly vetted migrants into your community isn’t such a good idea after all?

Executive of Erie County Mark C. Poloncarz, who is a Democrat, told his fellow leftist, New York City Mayor Eric Adams, to stop shipping migrants into the community until they can assure proper security, according to a statement released on Saturday.

“I demanded that Mayor Adams pause all further transportation of asylum seekers to our community until such time as we can resolve all security issues,” Polonzcarz said in the statement. “He agreed and informed me they will not send any additional persons to Erie County at this time.”

He also said that the governor of New York, Democrat Kathy Hochul, will deploy the National Guard in order to provide security at the hotels housing migrants.

Poloncarz 'tune has changed quite a bit since June, where he seemed very assured in the federal government’s vetting process for migrants and called those who wanted more border security “racist” and “bigoted.”

Poloncarz said the following on Twitter:

The asylum seekers who recently arrived from NYC are legally in this country and have been vetted by federal authorities. I know there’s been unfortunately in the last 24 hours a lot of racist and bigoted statements on social media and other places. But, as I have noted in the past, unless your ancestors are Native Americans, everyone came from somewhere else. These are asylum seekers who are legally in the country and we will assist them through the various mechanisms that exist.

Of course, now he’s having doubts about the current vetting process for the migrants.

“We were assured of the safety, security and proper screening by New York City through DocGo. Clearly, that hasn’t been done,” Poloncarz said during a news conference on Saturday.

This comes after local police announced that a migrant being housed at a hotel in Cheektowaga was arrested for sexually assaulting a woman.

Cheektowaga Police Chief Brian Gould stated during a press conference that the hotel should no longer be a place to house migrants, noting another recent crime involving a Venezuelan migrant raping a woman in front of a 3-year-old, as reported by the New York Post.

It seems that some people have to learn their lesson the hard way, but hey, at least maybe some of these Democratic politicians might have a little sense after all. One can dream.
